Joseph Vincelli was born in New Jersey and earned a music degree at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he learned a deep appreciation for the art of improvisational music. He toured and recorded with several artists, such as Buddy Miles, Ice Cube, Jerry Vale and Burt Reynolds. He also wrote for several film scores and movies, commercials and jingles before moving to Dallas in search of a quieter life.
Recognized for his upbeat and passionate style, Vincelli is classified as a smooth jazz artist with an edge. What sets him apart from other jazz artists is his ability to create music from an array of sources which many others would consider stretching the limits. Vincelli has recorded 14 CDs and one DVD in a 17-year period. His newest CD, entitled The Invitation, is a collaboration with pianist Joel McCray featuring many new songs in funk and ballad styles.
Vincelli has toured extensively throughout North America with visits to Brazil, Venezuela, England, Italy, Australia and South Africa. His diversity with the art of music has given him such honors as the 1998 recipient of the Scott Joplin Award for achievement and the 2000 Hall of Fame winner at the Clearwater Jazz Holiday festival. Vincelli also devotes time to giving master classes to students interested in the industry of music, as well as writing music and books for future recordings and publications.
